TomTom HOME troubleshooting fixes issues when your older TomTom GPS device will not connect to your computer, fails to start, or shows an error. Device Not Connecting to the Computer
If your computer or the software does not see your device, try these steps:
Check the battery: Charge your GPS for at least two hours before you plug it in.
Change the USB connection: Plug the USB cable directly into the back of your computer. Do not use a USB hub or a keyboard port. Use the original TomTom cable if you can.
Turn it on: Connect the cable first, then turn on the GPS. Tap Yes if the screen asks to connect to the computer.
Update the software: Open TomTom HOME, click Help, and select Check for TomTom HOME update. Device Stays Blank or Shows a Red Cross
A red cross usually means the software on the device is broken. You can fix this by reinstalling it:
Connect your device to the computer and open the TomTom HOME Application. Click Manage my device and go to the Items on device tab.
Click the plus sign next to Applications, select the TomTom application, and click Remove items from device.
Go to the TomTom Update Page by clicking Update my device in the main menu to download and install a fresh copy of the software. How to Reset Your GPS Device
